Hi, I’m Jessica!

The artist behind Elektro Kandi.

Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and raised across Venezuela, St. Croix, and Argentina, I grew up surrounded by different cultures, landscapes, colors, and ways of seeing the world. Those experiences shaped my curiosity and continue to influence the playful, vibrant universe I create today.

I’ve always found characters in unexpected places. A leaf can look like a frog, a street marking can become a snake, and a fallen log can suddenly resemble a bunny. Car bumpers are definitely faces. Even the patterns on a rug can become an entire story in my imagination.

That way of seeing the world—finding personality, humor, and possibility in ordinary things—is at the heart of my creative process.

My work moves freely between wearable art, painting, collage, sculpture, and mixed media. I combine resin, clay, beads, paper, paint, found objects, and rescued materials, often bringing together things that were never intended to belong together.

I’m especially drawn to objects that already have a history. Thrifted plushies, flea-market finds, discarded materials, and everyday objects become characters, jewelry, sculptures, and new little worlds. Every piece is made by hand, and many are completely one of a kind.

Color is at the heart of everything I make—especially the tension between dreamy pastels and electric neons. My work is influenced by rave culture, childhood nostalgia, nature, electronic music, fairy tales, and the simple joy of play.

I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design and have explored painting, collage, installation, sculpture, education, and community art throughout my creative life.

Today, Elektro Kandi is the universe where all of those parts of me come together.

It’s a place for experimentation, transformation, color, connection, and play. A place where a forgotten plushie can become wearable art, a tiny character can become a sculpture, and an ordinary object can become something worth looking at again.
