Hi I'm Jessica !
the artist behind Elektro Kandi.
Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and raised across Venezuela, St. Croix, and Argentina, I grew up surrounded by different cultures, landscapes, colors, and ways of seeing the world. These experiences shaped my curiosity and continue to influence the playful, vibrant universe I create today.
I’ve always been fascinated by discovering familiar shapes in my environment and imagining the characters or stories they could become. A leaf might look like a frog, a marking on the street might transform into a snake, or a fallen log might resemble a bunny. Car bumpers are definitely faces, and even the patterns on a rug in the loo can become an entire comic book in my imagination. This way of seeing the world—finding magic, personality, and stories in unexpected places—is at the heart of my creative process.
My creative process is driven by curiosity, experimentation, and the belief that art doesn’t have to fit into a single category. I love combining materials that aren’t traditionally meant to go together and allowing my imagination to run wild. Each piece evolves naturally as I create.
My work ranges from resin accessories and thrifted plushies transformed into wearable art to original mixed-media collages and clay sculptures. I also love painting with watercolors. Often, I paint individual characters or elements, cut them out, and incorporate them into my collages, giving each piece another handmade layer.
Whether I’m transforming a rescued plushie into a new character or building a layered artwork with paper, paint, resin casts, beads, and found objects, every creation is made by hand. Each piece tells the story of unexpected materials coming together to create something entirely new.
Color is at the heart of everything I make. I especially love the contrast between dreamy pastels and electric neons. Inspired by rave culture, childhood nostalgia, nature, electronic music, fairy tales, and the joy of play, I create art that feels vibrant, unexpected, and full of wonder—because that’s exactly how I feel while creating it. Many of my favorite materials come from thrift stores, flea markets, and everyday objects waiting to be given a second life.
I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Over the years, I’ve explored painting, collage, installation, sculpture, education, and community art. Today, Elektro Kandi is the creative universe where all of those experiences and passions come together.
Thank you for visiting my little corner of the internet. I hope my work sparks your curiosity, brings a smile to your face, and reminds you that beauty can be found in the most unexpected places.
Welcome to the world of Elektro Kandi.
